Road Closures in Little Gaddesden

Hertfordshire County Council has announced closures of Nettleden Road in Little Gaddesden from 09.30 to 15.00 during a period of around ten days starting on Monday 21st November.  This is to carry out kerbing works to prevent encroachment of vehicles onto the grass verges and some carriageway patching to stop water ponding.  Full details of the closures and their exact location can be found here.

Potten End bus shelters

The parish council provides and maintains the bus shelters on and opposite Potten End Village Green.  The one opposite the green is on land owned by the Village Hall and leased to the parish.  The 25 year lease is due to expire next year and at its meeting on 20th October the parish council agreed (Minute 7.2) to instruct its solicitors to draw up a new lease and to pay an increased annual rent.

Hertfordshire Way improvement

Volunteer members of the Chiltern Society’s Hertfordshire Conservation Group have made two visits to Potten End in the last fortnight in order to improve the Hertfordshire Way between The Common and Nettleden Road.  The footpath has been widened through the clearance of encroaching vegetation and a large patch of Himalayan balsam near the golf course has been uprooted (to try to stop it growing again).

HGV survey in Nettleden

On 26th and 29th September volunteers from our parish and from Little Gaddesden took part in a survey to count the number of HGVs passing through parts of our parishes.  This was in order to obtain some base numbers ready for comparison with those to be counted next year once the bridge at Water End is closed to HGVs (after the opening of the Dunstable Northern Bypass – M1/A5 link).  The results can be found here.
