Parish Council News – July 2024
Highways The white ‘slow’ sign on Nettleden Road has been refreshed and now we’re waiting for the lines at the Church Rd/The Common/The Green junction in Potten End to get the same treatment. Cllr Douris advised the last Council meeting that he is in discussions with Dacorum about the possibility of additional parking on Homefield which would be subject to local consultation before it could proceed. Also at its last meeting the council agreed to consider funding “Unsuitable for HGV” signs at either end of Frithsden Lane. Dacorum are unwilling to increase the frequency of parking enforcement officers to Potten End even if the Parish Council was prepared to pay for them. I have opened discussions with other parishes to see whether collectively we might have a more compelling case; it’s a long shot but initial feedback suggest that we’re not alone either in having a parking problem or that Dacorum aren’t providing the support we’d like to see. At the July meeting the Council will receive an update on Hertfordshire CC’s plans to roll-out 20mph speed limits (which at the moment don’t include Potten End). Road works: Hempstead Lane will have traffic light controls for the foreseeable future. Bullbeggars Lane will have traffic management from 28 – 30 August as Highways undertake work on the road surface, Nettleden Road (east of the junction with Vicarage Rd) will have traffic management from 30 September to 2 October for Affinity Water. See one.network for details of roadworks. Open spaces Nothing to report Planning The Council will be considering its response to the proposed SANG between Potten End Hill and Nettleden Road (24/01239/MFA). It will also receive an update on the development of 1,100 houses at the bottom of Pouchen End Lane which is likely to start later this year. The site extends from Chaulden and Warners End in the east to Pouchen End Lane in the west, and from just below Fields End in the north to Chaulden Lane in the south. The formal planning application can be seen at 4/03266/18/MFA but you may find the website of the consultancy leading the project more accessible if you’d like to learn more about what’s being built. Construction traffic should be routed along The Avenue in Hemel and shouldn’t come anywhere near Potten End. Dates for your diaries There will be no council meeting in August. The next two Council meetings will take place on 19 September and 17 October 2024. |
