Community Infrastructure Improvement Projects

From time to time the Parish Council receives funds from new housing developments in the Parish which are to be used to improve local facilities.

The Council decided to use some of the funds received in 2023 and 2025 as follows:

  • A new noticeboard outside Cedar to advertise both parish and community events.
  • Two new benches near the play equipment on the recreation ground.
  • Road signage on Frithsden Lane to restrict HGV usage and to warn that horses frequently use the road.
  • Village gates on The Common to emphasise the reduced speed limit through the village.
  • Major maintenance of the Village Pond.
  • Improvements to the edge of The Green, including a ramp to improve access to the bus stop.
  • Roadside traffic data recorder to improve monitoring and reporting of speeding vehicles through Potten End.

After consulting with residents in 2025 the Council agreed to use some of the funds for:

  • A new junior goal on the recreation area.

The Council also agreed to make grants to the following projects which were also supported by residents but where additional funding will be needed to deliver the project:

  • A new scout hut to replace the current hut which is nearly 100 years old
  • Improvements to the Old Green to provide additional facilities for the Potten End Church of England Primary School.
  • Improvements to the caretakers accommodation at the Village Hall.
  • Maintenance of the war memorial at Holy Trinity, Potten End.

The Council anticipates that the grants will facilitate these projects raising additional funding and as a result that the benefit to the parish will significantly exceed the value of the funds received from the housing developments.
