New memorial bench

A new bench has been donated to the parish by the family of Cherry and Keith Simpson and placed on Potten End Village Green to replace an old log seat.  Cherry and Keith moved to the parish in 1975 and lived happily here for 41 years.

Please report potholes when you see them

It’s that time of year when potholes often appear in roads in and around our parish.  Luckily never as bad as the one in the photo!  If you see a pothole please report it to Hertfordshire County Council.  The process is really simple and it’s easy to see if it has already been reported.  You can find a link on our useful links page or do so directly from here.  The same link can be used to report fallen trees, street lights not working and problems with pavements.

Double yellow lines on The Green

Hertfordshire County Council has given notice that in order to improve road safety in Potten End it plans to implement new waiting restrictions along The Green and on the corners of the intersection of The Green with Hempstead Lane.  A document giving full details of the proposals, including a more complete map, can be found here.  Any objections to the proposals have to be made by 16th January 2017 and the first page of the document explains how to do this.

Old Green action plan

At its meeting on 17th January the Parish Council agreed a new action plan for Potten End Old Green.  It includes a significant amount of clearance work, improvements to the drainage, possible replacement of the broken handrail near Browns Spring and a strategy to maintain the area in the future via re-activation of the Friends of the Old Green.
